Nets fire head coach Hollins, reassign GM King

After an underwhelming start to the season, the Nets fired head coach Lionel Hollins and general manager Billy King has been reassigned within the organization, the team announced in a press release on Sunday.

This has implications on the Celtics, since they own Brooklyn’s unprotected first-round picks in 2016 and 2018, and have the right to swap firsts with them in 2017.

But it remains to be seen how this change affects the Celtics.

The new Nets front office could move towards a full rebuild, perhaps with trades sending out expensive stars, like Brook Lopez and Joe Johnson, for draft picks and young players.

But it could also signal that impatient owner Mikhail Prokhorov intends to make shortsighted moves for players that can help now and set them up for a busy summer in free agency.

Only time will tell, but no matter the case, the dysfunction in the Nets organization bodes well for the Celtics.
