Mannix: Celtics may have trouble attracting quality free agents

The Celtics have set their sights high in free agency -- Kevin Durant, and you can't get much higher than that -- and the strategy for nabbing Durant includes luring other high-quality players to Boston to make the C's more attractive.

But, says The Vertical's Chris Mannix, that may be easier said than done.

"I just think it's going to be a bigger problem than Boston thinks, getting one of those star players," Mannix told Kyle Draper and A. Sherrod Blakely on Wednesday night's SportsNet Central.

"I think . . . after midnight (Thursday, when free agency begins). . . you're going to see a lot of guys in the higher tax bracket [sign] very quickly. I don't know exactly when Al Horford would sign, but I think Atlanta is committed to getting [him] back. I think Charlotte is committed to getting Nic Batum back.

"There's a lot of players that I think Boston will be targeting that might go off the board pretty quickly."
