Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck joined Tony Massarotti and Marc "The Beetle" Bertrand (Michael Felger was off) on 98.5 The Sports Hub's Felger & Mazz show on Wednesday and explained his recent comments that the C's would have some "fireworks" in the offseason.
"We have a potential for a busy and exciting June," Grousbeck said. "In '07 when we got something accomplished it actually took until July 31. But thank God at that point the Big Three got put together. We've got more draft picks right now -- more first-round picks -- than anybody in the league by far over the next five years.
"We've got a young core who's playing well and got some upside. We've got a really good young coach that I'm excited about. We've got maybe the best GM in the league, or one of the handful. And we've got committed fans and ownership," Grousbeck said. "So, this is the first time, this June -- nothing happened in February; the phone was practically not ringing; not much you can do if the phone's not ringing -- I think the phone's going to be ringing off the hook in June. There's always a lot more going on, a lot more choices to make every June. And I think this one just has the makings. We may have a high pick. We're going to have two first-round picks and a bunch of future picks we can trade or whatever. And we've got expiring contracts. There's just a lot that could happen in June. I think we may have a different-looking roster coming out of it."
