When told he before the game against the Jazz that he was not starting, after being in new coach Brad Stevens' starting five the first four games, Celtics veteran Gerald Wallace was irked.

"I don't really know what to think," Wallace, a 13-year NBA veteran, initially said of the move. "Like I said, I don't know my role. I don't know what's going on. I just go; when they ask me to play, I'll play. We'll just go from there."

After a nine-point performance in 23 minutes off the bench in the C's first victory on Wednesday and at practice Thursday, Wallace seemed to have warmed up to the role. A postgame meeting with team president Danny Ainge must have helped, too.

"Coming off the bench this late in my career is pretty good. I don't think I can average 30, 40-45 minutes anymore," Wallace said Thursday. "It helps our team out bringing that energy off the bench."
