Doc Rivers: Clippers aren't trading Blake Griffin

Don’t get your hopes up for Blake Griffin, Celtics fans.

Clippers head coach and president of basketball operations Doc Rivers spoke at practice Tuesday and denied reports that Griffin is available.

"We're not trading Blake," Rivers said.

Griffin has been mentioned in numerous reports, including some involving the Celtics. Griffin is a 26-year-old stud forward, averaging 23.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. He's a five-time All-Star, a superb athlete, and one of the best ball handling and passing big men of all-time, so it’s surprising that Griffin’s name has even been involved in rumors.

But that’s probably because he’s missed the last 23 games due to injury and broke his hand after he punched a Clippers equipment staffer in mid-January. The Clippers are 18-5 without their superstar, so maybe they’ve considering testing the market to see what they can get.

The chances are the Clippers won’t trade Griffin. But if Danny Ainge calls good 'ol friend Doc Rivers with an appealing package on Thursday afternoon, you never know what could happen.
