Earlier in the week, Comcast SportsNet will feature a humorous look-back at the 1997 NBA Draft with a special show entitled “Blast the Past: ‘97 Celtics Draft Special” which will air on Monday, June 23 at 8PM. The special will feature panelists Gary Tanguay, Cedric Maxwell and Michael Holley looking back at the network’s 1997 Draft Special -- which originally aired onSportschannel New England -- from the CSN “theater room,” all the while providing commentary and jokes about what they are seeing and hearing.

The 1997 NBA Draft was Rick Pitino’s first endeavor as Celtics President and Head Coach and the Celtics held the #3 pick (ultimately picked ChaunceyBillups) and the #6 pick (ultimately picked Ron Mercer).  The ‘97 live special featured Gorman, Heinsohn, Willie Maye, and several others, all on-site from the Celtics’ Draft party at The Garden, as well as an unfiltered Pitino who provided hilarious, agitating, and history-making comments throughout the night. Viewers will be enticed to laugh, roll their eyes, or be overcome with historical emotion as they recall the days of the late 90’s and Pitino’s stint with the franchise.  The show also included fan input and feedback solicited from the surrounding streets. Whether the discussion is about thememorable 90’s attire of those featured on the show -- or the analysis of the Draft itself—the panel will break it all down in a unique and humorous way. Monday’s “look-back” show will also be highly interactive with live tweets and posts from fans appearing on the screen throughout.

CSNNE.com will complement both specials with real-time updates, stories and analysis throughout the live 2014 Draft night special and will also feature continuous fan interaction on the site during the 1997 special look-back.  The site will also have a dedicated NBA Draft page and fans can follow the networks’ Twitter reaction at @CSNNE.
