New team, new season . . . but the Celtics' 2013-14 schedule, which was released moments ago by the NBA, is highlighted by some old faces.
In the most anticipated matchup of the year, the Celtics will face Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett as members of the Nets for the first time on Tuesday, December 10 in Brooklyn. And then, the very next night, former coach Doc Rivers comes to Boston for the first time with his new team, the Clippers.
Those two games -- in fact, all 82 regular-season games -- will be televised on Comcast SportsNet.
Pierce and Garnett will make their return to the TD Garden on Sunday, January 26, with a 6:30 p.m. tipoff. By that time, the C's will have already played Rivers on his new turf; the C's-at-Clippers game will be played Wednesday, January 8.
KG and Pierce will also be back in town on Friday, March 7. And old friend Brian Scalabrine, now an assistant coach with the Warriors, will be here two days earlier, on Wednesday, March 5.
The Celtics will face the defending champion Miami Heat for the first time on Saturday, November 9 in South Beach. The Heat will make their first -- and only -- visit of the season to Boston on Wednesday, March 19.
Boston's season opens on Wednesday, October 30 on the road against the Toronto Raptors. The C's will play their home opener two days later on Friday, November 1, hosting the Milwaukee Bucks.
