The Celtics have repeated the mantra since the draft: Taking point guard Marcus Smart doesn't mean that Rajon Rondo's days in Boston are numbered.
"I'm going to call B.S. on this," Michael Holley of WEEI said on Sports Tonight. "That's his [Smart's] best position. If you move him to 2[-guard], [at 6-3] he's an undersized 2...So just play off of them."
"Is this just a message to Rondo, 'see you later'? Holley asked Celtics radio analyst Cedric Maxwell.
"Have you heard anybody talk about Rondo renegotiating his deal? You haven't heard anybody talking about that . ...Maybe what you're looking at with the Celtics is changing what you do at the guard position. ...You already have forwards."
"Like who?" Holley asked.
"Jeff Green," Maxwell said.
Holley: "This is Comcast Sports Net not Comedy Central!"
