With the Boston Celtics fully stocked with draft picks, could the Celtics strike a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love?
Celtics Insider A. Sherrod Blakely discussed the possibility of a trade.
"A lot will depend on what exactly the Timberwolves are looking to get in a deal for Kevin [Love]." said Blakely, "They can look to get assets, which puts the Celtics in a great, great position. Or they could look to get good, but not great, talent but lots of it. That is where teams like Golden State and Chicago become players."
"When you're talking about the [draft pick] this year, then you can attach a specific value to that pick. If you were Minnesota, you wouldn't have a problem taking the Celtics pick if it's one of the top two or three picks in the draft."
Why wouldn't the Celtics use their top pick on a prospect?
"This Celtics team is trying to reload and become a title contender quickly rather than be patient about it." continued Blakely, "If you have a chance to get a guy like Kevin Love, and it costs you a draft pick in this year's draft, if you're Danny Ainge you're going to make that deal."
"The Celtics have the kind of assets that Minnesota wants," said Blakely, "I believe at the end of the day, Kevin Love is going to be a guy that the Celtics have as good a chance as anyone in the NBA of acquiring."
