Rajon Rondo may have had the shortest option to a minor league team in history on Wednesday.
The Celtics announced Wednesday afternoon that Rondo would join the Red Claws, the C's D-League affiliate, as Rondo works his way back into shape after knee surgery.
The Red Claws were in Boston at the end of a long road trip and worked out with Rondo, who hours later was added to the Celtics active roster but didn't play against the Toronto Raptors.
So, how did Rondo look?
"He looked good," Red Claws guard Chris Babb told CSNNE Celtics sideline reporter Abby Chin at the C's-Raptors game. Babb was a teammate of Rondo's as they worked out Wednesday. "No hesitation," Babb said. "Maybe a little winded. Any time you get a chance to play with an NBA All-Star an NBA champion that's great."
Rondo treated his brief D-League teammates to dinner after the workout.
