Tuesday, May 2: Another Crosby concussion

Share

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while totally disappointed at the actions of a few drunk morons at Fenway Park last night.

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) and PHT writer Jason Brough has the details on Sidney Crosby out with a concussion for Game 4 after taking a Matti Niskanen cross-check to the head. What a big blow to the Penguins if he can’t come back quickly.

*Speaking of the Niskanen hit on Crosby, Rob Rossi certainly rattled some cages last night by accusing the Washington Capitals of purposely taking out Sid the Kid, and then calling for Alex Ovechkin to be suspended for the rest of the playoffs. Yowza.

*Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving was rewarded for his good work in Calgary with a contract extension announced this week.

*It’s a tale of two extremely different cities between Ottawa and New York City in their playoff series, but perhaps they do have some similarities after all.

*I’ll admit that Sergei Bobrovsky completely snuck by my radar as a Hart Trophy candidate when I did my voting, so here’s an article giving him some props for being a finalist for the award.

*Retaining Jaromir Jagr as a 45-year-old free agent is a “no-brainer” for the Florida Panthers as they get their offseason business underway.

*Though I wish they didn’t have to be written in the first place, I really marvel at Dave Strader’s fight with cancer and his fierce determination to do the thing that he loves for as long as he can. That is true passion from a great hockey man.

*For something completely different: Jimmy Kimmel’s teary-eyed monologue from last night about his son’s brush with heart defects as a newborn is every parent’s nightmare. It’s great that it sounds like they’re going to get through it relatively well, and Kimmel’s message should be heard loud and clear.
