Tuesday, Jan. 3: Aly Raisman visits Winter Classic

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while disappointed that Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t using “Hasta La Vista, Baby” as his closing line when he fires people on Celebrity Apprentice. But the “Get to the Chopper” at the end is magical.

*Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman of Needham, Mass., visited the Winter Classic and went into her history as a hockey fan.

*Michael Farber gives a video essay on the magic of the 6-5 score in a well-produced video from the always solid TSN.

*Mike Condon isn’t taking any time off between the pipes for the Ottawa Senators much like he wasn’t taking any time off as the emergency guy for the Montreal Canadiens last season.

*Darren Dreger jumps on Canadian sports radio to talk up Auston Matthews, who is having a whale of a rookie season with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

*Congrats to “computer boy” Thomas Drance for being named Vice President of Communications and Public Relations for the Florida Panthers. Drance is actually an interesting choice, who could be a good person to help smooth over some of the schism between the mainstream media and the Panthers outside-the-box approach to running their hockey club. Drance better bring not forget his sunscreen before he leaves for Florida.  It’s a little different from the hinterlands of Canada.

*More than their speed and skill level, Chris Kreider says that communication is the key to the Rangers success this season.

*Bleacher Report has a list of the NHL teams most likely to improve in 2017. The good news is that the Bruins are on the list. The bad news is that the Lightning and Panthers are also on the list, and currently breathing down the backs of the B’s in the Atlantic Division.

*Here’s a cool “100 Years of Hockey” video celebrating the history of the game as the Red Wings and Maple Leafs tangled in the Centennial Classic a few days ago.

*For something completely different: Gary Tanguay says sorry, but Tom Brady is not the MVP. C’mon Gare Bear…tell the truth. You’re not sorry.
