Thursday, June 23: Sorry, Tony X, your 15 minutes are up

Here are the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while getting ready to shuffle off to Buffalo.

*Some covering the NHL Awards last night were wondering what happened to viral hockey fan Tony X. I was not one of them, nor was I wondering what happened to him. It was a cute story during the playoffs, but the 15 minutes are up at this point.

*The Oilers Rig blog hands out their first annual “Blogger Awards” that I’m including here because it looks like FOH (Friend of Haggs) Bob Stauffer won something.

*Pretty cool moment for Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan as he got a call from President Barack Obama yesterday.

*Pro Hockey Talk puts the spotlight on Penticton defenseman Dante Fabbro, who might very well be the Bruins pick at the No. 14 spot on Friday night.

*Craig Custance says that the GM hiring in Las Vegas will be crucial for the expansion franchise forever more to be known as the Vegas Knights.

*Five things that the Calgary Flames must do during NHL draft weekend to come away successful. Hoping that another team gives them a defenseman a la Dougie Hamilton last year would be a good place to start.

*A big day for the Los Angeles Kings as both Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty win major NHL Awards, and Milan Lucic moves on after one season.

*For something completely different: the NRA-friendly politicians sitting on their hands right now are taking a hit from newspapers, and voters, all around the country. They can’t ignore the voices telling them to make commonsense gun reform forever.
