With the trade deadline passed and none of the Bruins shipped off elsewhere, the B's Shawn Thornton said it has reinforced the team's confidence that management believes in the group as currently constructed.
"Confidence for sure," Thornton told Michael Felger on Cross Check. "We made some big moves in July [signing Jarome Iginla, trading for Reilly Smith and Loui Eriksson]. People get too carried away with the deadline sometimes. We love the guys we have in there. We're going to be a confident bunch going forward.
The Bruins' fourth line of Thornton, Daniel Paille and Gregory Campbell has really asserted itself. Campbell has four goals in his past four games. Thornton said the three teammates met to talk about how to improve and the results are showing.
"We've had some meetings internally the three of us. We've talked about how we can get better on the ice." he said. "It seems to working so hopefully it can continue for the next month or so."
