RALEIGH, N.C. In another fun wrinkle that was announced before the Superskills competition got started, Bs goalie Tim Thomas tookpart in the fastest skater competition against Carolina Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward.It was rumored more than a month ago that NHL All-Star Mad Scientist Brendan Shanahan was thinking of pitting goaltenders vs. goaltenders in some of the skills competitions, and clearly there was more than a nugget of truth to that.Thomas has been known to wipe out jumping off the bench onto the ice for pregame warm-ups as hes done several times already this season so a fastest skater competition featuring Tank should be pretty interesting.Thomas, when approached by CSNNE.com about skating in the skills competition, was gung ho about getting involved with the skills competition in an event that normally doesnt feature much excitement from a goaltenders point of view.Thomas actually fell down behind the net during his twirl around the ice in the competition, and had a smile on his face the entire time as he was narrowly beaten by Cam Wardwith both goalies racing aroundin full pads around the ice. Thomas finished his face at 18.895 seconds despite the quick flop behind the net while attempting to take the firstturn.
