Sunday, May 8: Islanders learn harsh truths

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading while wondering how Gustav Nyquist the player can top what Gustav Nyquist the horse did in the Kentucky Derby.

*PHT writer Cam Tucker has Bruce Boudreau agreeing to terms on a four year contract to become the new coach of the Minnesota Wild.

*Speaking of Boudreau going to the Wild, that leaves the Ottawa Senators still searching for a coach after missing on out Boudreau (picking the Wild) and Claude Julien (holding onto his job with the Bruins) as potential bench bosses.

*Alex Ovechkin pulls off a great performance to keep things alive for the Washington Capitals to travel to Pittsburgh for a gigantic Game 6 against the Penguins.

*Ryan Callahan’s 100-year-old grandmother is cheering him on as the Tampa Bay Lightning look to close out the New York Islanders.

*Meanwhile, the Islanders are learning some of the harsh truths of the Stanley Cup playoffs, according to Larry Brooks. I’m assuming this is different than the harsh truths according to Dan Boyle.

*The aforementioned Nyquist the horse met with the ultimate good luck charm, the Stanley Cup, prior to winning the Kentucky Derby.

*For something completely different: there isn’t much more than the sound and video needed to enjoy the majesty of Bartolo Colon cracking his first career home run in the big leagues. From Big Bart to Bambino just like that.
