Saturday, Oct. 8: Can't undervalue AHL experience

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while shaking my head, simply shaking my head in disbelief at how far things have devolved in our Presidential race.

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) Pierre McGuire says that NHL teams can’t undersell the value of AHL experience for young players on their development track.

*Brent Burns is the next big free agent entering the final year of his deal, but he’s not really worried about his situation.

*Nail Yakupov has been dealt to the St. Louis Blues for a “C” prospect and a third-round pick. I heard rumblings over the summer that a Brett Connolly-for-Yakupov swap might have been possible prior to the Bruins non-tendering the restricted free agent, but it’s pretty clear the B’s weren’t interested in the former first overall pick.

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) says that Tim Panaccio says that the Michael Del Zotto injury means the Flyers are facing some tough salary cap decisions.

*Kris Russell is finally off the free agent market after signing a one-year deal with the Edmonton Oilers and probably regretting some of the offers, like a multi-year one from the Maple Leafs, that he spurned a little bit earlier in the free agency process.

*Jacob Trouba, Vladimir Sobotka and the Bruins hit Spector’s rumor mill as teams brace their rosters for the regular season.

*For something completely different: a good look at the changes in store for the second season of Supergirl moving over to the CW.
