Saturday, May 7: Oilers land Caggiula

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while waiting for my 9-year-old nephew Devin’s schedule to open up so we can go check out Captain America: Civil War together.

*PHT writer and FOH (Friend of Haggs) Joey Alfieri has the Edmonton Oilers beating the field to undrafted NCAA prospect Drake Caggiula to a two-year, entry-level deal.

*Dean Lombardi has finally emerged after the end of the Kings season, and voiced the desire to keep both Darryl Sutter and Milan Lucic in the fold.

*Of all the teams in this year’s playoffs, the Nashville Predators are getting the biggest raw deal travel-wise with back-to-back series against California teams.

*Jaromir Jagr will be back for another NHL go-round in Florida next season, and he’s hoping to be even better at 44 years old.

*There’s a race horse named after Gustav Nyquist and the Red Wings forward admits it’s made him become a racing fan.

*Good piece from Alex Prewitt on Brent Burns, who is bringing the color and run into San Jose’s playoff run.

*Joe Starkey says that the story of the Caps/Penguins series has been the big mistake made by Brooks Orpik. It’s hard to argue with him.

*For something completely different: some guy whose name I can’t pronounce is going to play the young Han Solo. That’s cool just as long as it’s not Miles Teller, who I was not keen on becoming that character in a standalone movie.
