Saturday, April 9: Boogaard case prompts probe

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while bummed at the proposition I might be missing out on covering playoff hockey for two years in a row.

*The co-founder of the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse Program is under investigation for his care of Derek Boogaard, according to TSN.

*Erik Johnson vowed that he “has to be better” if the Avalanche are going to improve, and once again be a playoff team.

*Dan Rosen has all of the playoff permutations and exactly what has to happen for the Bruins to get into the postseason.

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) Greg Wyshynski asks if the Red Wings’ 24-season playoff streak will come to an end this spring. I say “no, it will not.”

*A great piece in the Players Tribune about former Bruins forward Tom Fitzgerald and his hockey playing family with sons Ryan and Casey at Boston College.

*Pat Hickey says that are very real whispers out there that the Carolina Hurricanes ownership has its eyes on Quebec City as a new location for their franchise.

*The Calgary Flames are left to reflect on a very disappointing season that leaves them out of the postseason.

*For something completely different: it really feels like Zack Snyder is the wrong guy to be heading the entire DC Universe movie franchise, and the sagging box office from BatmanVSuperman is starting to show it.
