Mike Giardi and Joe Haggerty bring you the Great American Hockey Show post game edition, following the Bruins' Game 1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.
The last time we saw the boys on GAHS post game, the Chicago Blackhawks were celebrating their Stanley Cup victory. While not quite as somber as that night, Friday night's 1-0 loss to the Wings didn't make the Bruins any happier.
The game turned on Pavel Datsyuk's wizardry, when he dragged the puck through the Bruins defense and beat a screened Tuukka Rask for the eventual game-winner, with 3:01 left to play in the third period.
"It was their best beating your best," says Haggerty. "That’s why they deserved to win this game."
Although there were only three penalties called, things got a little heated on the ice. Milan Lucic earns the meathead of the game for his decision to use his hockey stick to intentionally hit Danny DeKeyser in the crotch while the Red Wing had his back turned.
"I like [the Bruins] bringing the nasty to the game, I like them pushing the envelope," says Haggerty, "but spearing a guy in the brass bonanzas… you can’t do that. That was just unclean."
