BOSTON – The Bruins get the matchup everybody expected as they seek their ninth consecutive win on home ice at TD Garden against a New York Islanders team that’s 11 points out of a playoff spot in the Metro Division.

Tuukka Rask and Evgeni Nabokov led their respective teams out onto the ice, and will get the starts between the pipes for the Bruins and Islanders on New Year's Eve.

Rask is seeking his 21st win of the season, and ranks among the top three NHL netminders in goals-against average (1.89) and save percentage (.936) while Nabokov has been the Isles best player manning the net this season.

Zdeno Chara made it through pregame warm-up, and it appears they’ll go with the same lineup they featured at the morning skate at Ristuccia Arena. Here are the line combos and D-pairings based on pre-game skate:

Lucic-Krejci-Iginla
Marchand-Bergeron-Smith
Fraser-Spooner-Johnson
Paille-Campbell-Caron

Chara-Boychuk
Bartkowski-Miller
Krug-McQuaid
