Morning Skate: Toews shows us why Hawks keep winning

Here are all the links from around the hockey world and what I’m reading while fully understanding that was something of a lucky kick that caught Ronda Rousey on Saturday night. That’s definitely part of the allure of UFC and MMA, the “one punch” or “one kick aspect” of the fights when it can be over that quickly if somebody opens themselves up for that kind of strike.

*Ilya Bryzgalov showed up at a Flyers game, and you can imagine he had some pretty funny things to say as a result.

*This is part of the reason why the Blackhawks keep winning: Jonathan Toews shows he has the backs of his teammates and doesn’t shy away from the dirty work, here fighting David Backes after a brutal hit on one of his defensemen.

*Good stuff from Tim Panaccio, who spoke with Pierre-Edoard Bellemare about the terrorist attacks in his home city of Paris.

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) Bruce Garrioch says there are more than 10 teams looking for top-four defensemen help around the league, including the Bruins. That’s a ton of competition for players that aren’t exactly top rung candidates.

*Gabriel Landeskog won’t fight his two-game suspension for his check to the head of Brad Marchand, which is a good thing because there’s really not much he could do to fight it.

*Interesting words out of Pittsburgh, where Evgeni Malkin said, “we’re mad at each other” about the plight of a Penguins team that’s underachieved for the last couple of seasons. I keep hearing from people around the league that Sidney Crosby hasn’t exactly been a part of the solution with the Penguins over the last few years which would explain a lot of what we’re seeing.

*For something completely different: as mentioned above, Rousey was upset by Holly Holm during their Saturday night bout with a second round kick that knocked the champ out on her feet.
