Morning Skate; Lucic receives one-game suspension

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading while imaging that Tom Brady is one hurting unit this morning. He took an absolute beating yesterday in Denver.

-- An update on the Jonathan Drouin situation. Calgary’s Kris Russell is a popular target among those searching for D-men, and Winnipeg may be deciding between Andrew Ladd and Dustin Byfuglien on which player to trade.

-- PHT writer Joey Alfieri has Connor McDavid cleared for contact, and hoping for a return with the fading Oilers after the All-Star break.

-- Milan Lucic is suspended for a game for his sucker punch on an Arizona Coyotes player. I’ve seen him do worse when he loses his temper, so this is pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.

-- Florida Panthers are winning some big time games against very good opponents lately, and continue to look like they’re for real.

-- To that end, Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman says the Panthers were “legit”.

-- Carl Soderberg is playing a starring role for the Colorado Avalanche right now, and is blossoming with the surging Avs.

-- For something completely different: Kanye is done with his latest piece of work, and says it’s “the best album of all time.” I never would have guessed that.
