While he enjoyed the line brawl between the Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames the other night, Mike Milbury says all John Tortorella's actions accomplished was to get him a fine and lengthy suspension when the Canucks coach stormed the Calgary locker room between periods.

"What would be the purpose?" Milbury, the former Bruin, asked on Cross Check. "Are you going to get [Calgary coach Bob Hartley] alone for tea and crumpets? There was a phalanx of Calgary players in front of him. All it did was cost him some money and a suspension."

Milbury is famous for jumping into the stands during a Bruins-Rangers brawl at Madison Square Garden and hitting a fan with a shoe. Still, he said there was a purpose behind that back in 1979. He was rescuing his teammates.

"I went into the stands because my buddies were in trouble," he said.
