Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli and team president Cam Neely have seemingly tried to lower expectations as the March 5 NHL trade deadline approaches.
A blockbuster may not be out there, but without acquiring a "top-four defenseman," the Bruins won't win the Stanley Cup. At least that's the opinion of ex-Bruins player and coach and NBC hockey analyst Mike Milbury.
"That's a blockbuster. A top-four defenseman," Milbury told Michael Felger on Cross Check. "They've got some great young players, but come playoff time the inexperience is going to jump up and bite them . . . If they don't get one, they won't win the Stanley Cup. They'll contend in the Eastern Conference, which is much weaker than the Western Conference, but they'll fall short."
