Mike Milbury has said, on more than one occasion on Cross Check, that the Bruins are not legitimate Stanley Cup contenders.
When informed of those comments in a radio interview, Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli responded with this: "Mike is paid to make those strong opinionated comments, but if you judge a team based on one game out of ten, I don't think that's the right thing to do."
Milbury said his judgment is based what he's seen so far this season, not just one game.
"I think the Bruins are an admirable organization, but are a couple of players away," he told Michael Felger. "After Dennis Seidenberg went down [with a season-ending knee injury], and without [Andrew] Ference [who signed with Edmonton], you plug [Torey] Krug, you plug in [Dougie] Hamilton, but for me that's too many plugs."
