The Bruins announced on Monday, June 16 that Shawn Thornton will not return to the team next year. We remember his time here by re-running some of the interesting stories/videos involving him:

Shawn Thornton joined Michael Felger on Sports Tonight to talk about the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings.

When asked about the Bruins' role in the healing of the city, Thornton believes the first responders deserve all the credit.

"I don't thing we're that big." said Thornton, "I think the people around the city, the people that ran back into the fray… we just distracted some people for a few hours. That's easy, we're just a small blip on the radar as far as I'm concerned."

Although he is originally from Canada, Thornton is happy to call Boston his home.

"It really shows the type of people we have here . . . I'm proud to say I live here year-round."
