DALLAS – It had been almost a month since the Bruins had given Chad Johnson a start between the pipes, so there was some natural curiosity about the starter for Thursday night against the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center. Both Tuukka Rask and Johnson got off the ice at the same time for Thursday morning skate, but Johnson led the Black and Gold out onto the ice for his first start since a Dec. 19 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.

Johnson is 6-3-0 with a 2.30 goals-against average and .915 save percentage on the season, but has slumped a bit in his last few starts while showing a little difficulty moving quickly from post-to-post on quick wraparound attacks. The Bruins desperately could use the two points vs. the Stars, but they’d also like to rest Rask a little bit as his numbers have tailed off in January. Johnson will be opposed by Kari Lehtonen, who is sporting a 17-12-7 record with a 2.63 goals-against average and .916 save percentage on the season.
