The Bruins have learned how long they will be without defenseman Johnny Boychuk.
According to Peter Chiarelli, the team will be without the veteran defenseman for 3-7 days with a lower back sprain.
Bruins Insider Joe Haggerty reported the news via Twitter.
Johnny Boychuk out with a lower back sprain and will be out of the lineup 3-7 days, per Peter Chiarelli #BruinsTalk— Joe Haggerty (@HackswithHaggs) December 7, 2013
Claude Julien confirmed to reporters following Friday afternoon's practice that Boychuk had injured the lower back after a scary boarding incident with Max Pacioretty in Thursday night’s 2-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre.
With Boychuk and Adam McQuaid both missing practice on Friday, it also appears that Kevan Miller will be back in the lineup along with Matt Bartkowski for Saturday night’s Eastern Conference showdown with the Penguins.
