TORONTO – Claude Julien said following the loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night that Jarome Iginla (lower body injury) would have played against the Wings were it the playoffs, and the 36-year-old was right back in Thursday night against the Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre.
Iginla will be back in his normal spot with the Black and Gold alongside David Krejci and Milan Lucic, but Carl Soderberg has headed back to Boston to be with his wife, who is about to deliver their child.
With Soderberg out after scoring his 16th goal of the season against the Red Wings, Jordan Caron will remain in the lineup on the third line with Loui Eriksson and Chris Kelly centering in between the two players.
Chad Johnson is expected to be the goaltender after Tuukka Rask got the start on Wednesday night. Jonathan Bernier will be between the pipes for the Maple Leafs as their No. 1 goalie. No matter which player is in the lineup, Julien is expecting the same level from his team that’s he seen for the better part of three months.
The Bruins coach said there would be no changes among the B’s defensemen, although Andrej Meszaros, who had a rough night in Detroit, was scratched and Matt Bartkowski was paired with Johnny Boychuck. Here are the line combos and D-pairings:
