While many Bruins fans were underwhelmed with the trade deadline acquisition of defenseman Andrej Meszaros from the Flyers, Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe says the B's did about as well as they could, considering what was on the trade market on "D."
"I thought going in what they would do is get depth on defense and that's what they did," Dupont told fellow Globe columnist Bob Ryan and Gary Tanguay on Arbella Early Edition. "When I look at all defensemen that moved, do any of them knock my socks off more than Maszaros? No they don't."
Dupont said people weren't sold on Dennis Seidenberg when he was acquired in a deadline deal and he has turned into one of the Bruins' best defensemen before an injury ended this season for him early.
"I think people are underselling [Meszaros]," he said. "It's a simple system [that Bruins coach Claude Julien plays]. It's a smart fit. The cost is basically nothing. I'm very OK with it."
