*PHT writer Ryan Dadoun has rumors picking up steam about an NHL expansion team in Las Vegas, as well as several other spots in the US and Canada. Count me as being in favor of this for a couple of different reasons: first the NHL needs to add a couple of teams to the Western Conference to make it an even 16 teams in both conferences from a simple competitive standpoint. Secondly, the NHL needs to head back to Quebec City eventually. I really don’t care if it’s a relocation of a franchise such as the Florida Panthers, that just doesn’t have the support it needs, or a brand new team. The Nordiques deserve to skate again in the league just like the Winnipeg Jets are doing now.

*I am far from a Patrick Kaleta fan, but here’s something nice that the Buffalo dirt bag is doing with a disabled man in need.

*The Edmonton Oilers are feeling pretty certain that they’ll reach a mutually agreed upon deal with defenseman Justin Schultz.

*The AHL schedule is released for the 2014-15 season, so now Providence Bruins fans can start buying up those tickets.

*Local youngster and future high first-round pick Jack Eichel leads the list of prospects at the All-America camp in Buffalo.

*Montreal Canadiens scrappy forward Brendan Gallagher will be on his own this season after landlord Josh Gorges was dealt to the Buffalo Sabres in the offseason.

*For something completely different: here’s a solid #icebucketchallenge from Matt Damon lending awareness to a pair of great causes.
