Haggerty's Morning Skate: Vegas or Canada?

Share

Here are all the links fit to read around the hockey world, and the things that I’m reading on the morning after we had our first triple overtime humdinger of the Stanley Cup playoffs…

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) and Yahoo! Sports hockey dude Greg Wyshynski – also known as the original Puck Daddy or OPD for short -- smacks around Nate Silver after the stats guru attempted to poo-poo the notion of NHL expansion in Las Vegas rather than in Canadian outposts.

*The Jets and Senators face elimination, and other things to keep in mind on another night of playoff hockey courtesy of the Hockey Night in Canada folks.

*A good piece from Ian Mendes on the long struggles of Bobby Ryan heading into the playoffs, and that have now carried over into the postseason. If the Sens are going to win, then they’re going to need something from their big gun.

*PHT writer Mike Halford has the New York Islanders still very irate over the Tom Wilson hit that crushed Lubomir Visnovsky in Tuesday night’s win for the Islanders. Truth be told, I thought it was a clean hit delivered by Wilson and the puck had just left the area as he finished his check. He didn’t leave his feet at the point of contact, and kept his elbow tucked into his chest. That’s a case of a playoff hockey hit delivered by a young, physical player that’s also one of the biggest guys on the ice.

*Mark Divver provides a preview for the P-Bruins/Wolfpack playoff series, and gives a prediction that Providence will prevail.

*For something completely different: The Massachusetts Tourism Chief Wants to Change the State’s slogan and is crowd-sourcing social media for suggestions: how about “We’re a Wicked Good State.” I mean that really says it all, doesn’t it?
