*PHT writer and FOH (Friend of Haggs) Mike Halford has Russian mystery man Alex Kovalev calling it a career.

*The Vancouver Canucks pry Radim Vrbata out of Phoenix with a two-year, $10 million contract that was obviously too rich for Boston’s blood after they’d initially expressed interest in the right wing.

*Colorado Avalanche President Joe Sakic is “extremely happy’ with the work done by the Avs since the end of the season.

*Former Boston University power forward Alex Chiasson is ready to take on higher expectations with the Ottawa Senators. I’m rooting for Chiasson after he seemed to take the Rich Peverley incident in Dallas very hard last season. He was also a guy the Bruins were very interested in when they were conducting the Tyler Seguin deal with the Stars last summer.

*Brooks Orpik says that the pressure got to the Penguins the past couple of years. I would say that their coach was in over his head and they were a flawed hockey team, but maybe that’s just me.

*Michael Hutchinson signed a two-year deal with the Winnipeg Jets, and should be earmarked for at least a backup role over the next couple of seasons.

*Interesting drama surrounding the top of the CHL Import Draft; also the Belleville Bulls team that developed Malcolm Subban drafted Bruins first-round pick David Pastrnak, and may be an option for him at some point over the next couple of years.

*For something completely different: a Full House reunion at Cousin Joey’s wedding that looked pretty sweet.
