*Former St. Louis Blues power forward Keith Tkachuk likes the building plan that the Blues are using for their roster.

*A question is popping up now that some of the best NHL fancy stats voices are getting scooped up by NHL teams: where to go now for NHL advanced stats?

*Carey Price started his workouts a couple of weeks later than usual coming off a knee sprain in the playoffs, but it sure sounds like he’s raring to go this season.

*Clarke McArthur tells FOH (Friend of Haggs) Don Brennan that money want change him after signing a big deal with the Ottawa Senators.

*Nice work by Kevin Kurz getting this sizeable nugget: Joe Thornton has been stripped of his “C” by the San Jose Sharks. I’ll say it now as I’ve said it all along: no NHL team is ever going to win a Stanley Cup with Thornton as the focal point of the team, and the head of its leadership group. He wasn’t that kind of player in Boston, and it’s the reason they shipped him out to San Jose in the first place. Jumbo Joe would make a good complimentary veteran to an otherwise talented team, and perhaps that’s what the Sharks have in mind for him since he doesn’t appear willing to be moved from his spot out in San Jose.

*Dominic Tiano is unhappy with some of the new on-ice player safety measures in the OHL, and he’s ready to vent about them.

*Both super prospects Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel will play at least one game at the Sabres’ home in Buffalo this season.

*For something completely different: Ken Rosenthal is urging Curt Schilling to talk even more about the dangers of chewing tobacco after his compelling interview on the radio yesterday.
