·  PHT’s Joe Yerdon says that the inclusion of a Russian Dallas Stars rookie on the Russian Olympic hockey team has caused all kinds of discord within the Russian Hockey Federation.
·  Some cold, hard realities about the rebuilding process in Calgary, and the Flames players stuck in the middle of it.
·  Jonas Hiller continues to win games for the Ducks – 13 in a row at this point – and push for a new contract with Anaheim after a couple of injury-plagued seasons.
·  Valtteri Filppula is picking up the slack for the Tampa Bay Lightning this season after arriving as an unheralded free agent this summer.

·  A seventh grader has “committed” to the University of Maine? That’s right, and it’s the kid (Oliver Wahlstrom) that had all of the crazy moves on NESN’s Mini One-on-One.

·  Shawn Hutcheon says that Merlot will be served in San Jose, and it most likely will given that the Bruins team needs a swift kick in the pants.

·  FOH (Friend of Haggs) Andy Merritt has a good piece in the New England Hockey Journal detailing why it's time for an end to the college hockey games played outdoors at Fenway Park.
·  For something completely different: a Star Wars-themed strip joint is opening in the Atlanta area. You can’t make this stuff up.
