Haggerty's Morning Skate: Has Rangers' Cup window closed?

Share

Here’s all the hockey links for today, and what I’m reading, prior to co-hosting Town Fair Tire Sports Tonight around 11 p.m. following the Patriots game.

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) Dan Rosen is asking if the Stanley Cup window has closed on the New York Rangers. I would say “no” given the talent still there in New York along with Henrik Lundqvist, but it certainly will be a different team this season without offensive players like Marty St. Louis and Carl Hagelin.

*PHT writer Ryan Dadoun has the Buffalo Sabres interested in luring free agent Cody Franson via a two-year deal.

*Patrik Berglund is going to miss four months following shoulder surgery in what can only be considered a blow to the St. Louis Blues before training camp has even started.

*Senators winger Mark Stone is ready to prove that he’s worth the $10.5 million contract that he signed with Ottawa after a spectacular rookie season.

*Oilers captain Andrew Ference is working to put community and fitness first through just about everything he does.

*Travis Yost attempts to find the best goaltender in the NHL by poring through statistics, and concludes it’s a tossup between several goalies including Tuukka Rask.

*The Carolina Hurricanes ownership is very much in flux right now, and that leaves a lot of question marks around the franchise.

*For something completely different: here’s some great pictures from last night’s “Old Time Baseball Game” that is always a feel-good event put on by FOH (Friend of Haggs) Steve Buckley.
