Gustavsson looking to get start for Bruins vs. Flames

CALGARY – It looks like Claude Julien will have some choices to make on Friday night with his lineup as he chose a select group of players to skate this morning while again canceling the full team morning skate at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Instead, it was Tuukka Rask, Jonas Gustavsson, Kevan Miller, Colin Miller, Tyler Randell and Zac Rinaldo, along with Joe Morrow, that took the ice prior to the Friday night tilt against the Flames. It’s pretty clear the B’s bench boss is considering some tweaks to the lineup after the Bruins ended a five-game winning streak with a listless loss in Edmonton. He admitted as much when talking things over with the media.

“We all know how these Western road trips are hard, and there are some good teams here,” said Claude Julien. “They never make it easy for you. We got a point last game, and you’re never satisfied with that. We’ve got to win some hockey games here. Tonight is one of those nights where we’re facing a team that had a really good comeback in their last game [against Dallas], and no doubt are confident and excited. We didn’t have our “A” game against Edmonton, but we’re going to need our “A” game tonight.”

One thing seems for certain that Gustavsson will be getting the start tonight against the Flames as Rask was the last goalie getting off the Saddledome ice after doing some extra work with spare defenseman Joe Morrow.

Here’s the projected lineup for the Bruins against the Flames based on the past couple of days of practice, but with the caveat that Julien may wait until game time to make the final decision on the lineup:

Marchand-Bergeron-Connolly

Beleskey-Krejci-Eriksson

Vatrano-Spooner-Hayes

Ferraro-Kemppainen-Randell

Chara-K. Miller

Seidenberg-Trotman

Krug-McQuaid

Gustavsson
