WILMINGTON – One day after Loui Eriksson and Carl Soderberg skated before practice, both Swedish forwards joined the rest of the Bruins for Tuesday’s morning skate at Ristuccia Arena.

Eriksson has been out since Dec. 7 after suffering his second concussion in a two-month span following a violent hit from Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik. Soderberg missed Saturday’s game with concussion-like symptoms after absorbing an Erik Karlsson hit off the turnbuckle between the benches.

Neither player is a candidate to play Tuesday night against the Islanders, and their presence likely has much to do with the non-contact nature of a morning skate prior to a game. But it’s clearly a mark of progress for both players in their concussion recovery that they’re back on the ice with their teammates.

Nick Johnson has been called up from Providence on emergency recall to fill in for Soderberg, and will be playing in his ninth game for Boston. Otherwise it was the status quo at Ristuccia Arena as the B’s prepare for their New Year’s Eve tilt against the struggling Isles. Zdeno Chara was a full participant in the morning skate, and looked to be a “go” as well. Tuukka Rask was the first goaltender off the ice, and would appear poised to get the start.

Here are the forward combs and D-pairings based on morning skate:
