Veteran NHLer Nick Johnson is off to Sweden.
Johnson, who spent last year with the Bruins organization, has agreed to terms with the Swedish Hockey League’s Vaxjo Lakers, the club announced on Wednesday. The news comes after Johnson spent just one year with Boston, appearing in nine games for the B’s while spending the majority of his season with AHL Providence.
At 28, Johnson boasts a good amount of big league experience — he’s appeared in 113 NHL contests and had his best year with Minnesota during the 2011-12 campaign, when he scored eight goals and 26 points in 77 games. That said, he’s fallen on hard times since the lockout and struggled to stick with a team, bouncing from the ECHL to the Phoenix organization to Boston and now, finally, Vaxjo.
