BOSTON - The Bruins will luck out a bit in getting the backup goaltender for Colorado, Jean-Sebastien Giguere, in his first appearance of the season, rather than the red-hot Semyon Varlamov (3-0-0), who has allowed only a single goal in each of his three starts. The high-powered Colorado offense has amassed 11 goals thus far.
The Bruins will call Tuukka Rask’s number again on Thursday night after he’d gone four days without any work besides a few practice days at Ristuccia Arena. Other than that, it will be an interesting feeling-out process for a pair of teams that haven’t played against each other in two years. The Bruins will go with the same lineup as the first couple of games, which means that Matt Bartkowski will be a healthy scratch for the third straight game.
It will be an important game for the Bruins as they've dropped seven straight to the Avalanche in Boston, their longest such streak of home futility against any NHL team.
