Bruins' Colin Miller out tonight vs. Red Wings

BOSTON – The Bruins revolving door of D-men will continue on Saturday as Colin Miller will be out of the lineup with a lower body injury sustained in the loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

Miller missed practice Friday with what the team termed as a “maintenance day” and Claude Julien said on Saturday morning it was more precautionary than anything else.

“I think it’s more being cautious..He is injured, but we’re being cautious,” said Julien. Miller ranks third among NHL rookie D-men with his six assists and seven points on the season. “I think in certain situations he could have played.”

With Joe Morrow, Miller and Jonas Gustavsson as the only three Bruins players to take the ice Saturday morning at TD Garden in an optional skate, one can deduce that Zach Trotman draws back into the lineup with Tuukka Rask getting his third consecutive start for the Black and Gold. The Miller injury creates an opening for Trotman to jump back in after he played pretty well in his last couple of appearances against Montreal and Brooklyn before Dennis Seidenberg returned to the lineup on Thursday.

Here are the expected line combos and D-pairings for Saturday night’s tilt with the Red Wings based on the past couple of days of practice:

Beleskey-Bergeron-Connolly

Vatrano-Krejci-Eriksson

Marchand-Spooner-Hayes

Rinaldo-Kemppainen-Randell

Chara-Trotman

Krug-McQuaid
