Bergeron, Marchand get day off from Bruins practice

BOSTON – The Bruins went through a quick practice at Agganis Arena on Saturday prior to taking part in their “Tailgate with the Bruins” event for the season ticket holders, and there were a few notable absences. Both Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand were missing from practice with Bergeron once again getting some time off to be with his newborn son, Zack, and Marchand getting a normal maintenance day off the ice.

Otherwise, Matt Beleskey once again practiced for the third day in a row and said he’s getting closer to a return to the lineup from his upper body injury.

“I feel better than yesterday, so that’s a good sign,” said Beleskey. “You hate watching your own team play…it’s a bad feeling. So I can’t wait to get back out there.”

Finnish center Joonas Kemppainen led the Bruins team stretch after practice following Friday night’s performance where he scored his first career NHL goal against the Islanders. Dennis Seidenberg skated for the sixth straight at BU prior to the Bruins practice, but looks like he’s still weeks away from a serious push toward returning to the B’s lineup from back surgery.
