The United States may not be in World Cup competition anymore, but Steve Buckley said their performance was a "moral victory for the sport in the United States."
Bob Neumeier admitted on Sports Tonight that he was caught up in the World Cup fever.
"I know so many people, myself included, I just grabbed on to this hook, line and sinker," said Neumeier. "I think that it's true across the board. I'm seeing more and more people getting involved. I think ultimately USA's performance in the tournament itself is a victory simply for the sport. Where it goes, I'm not sure."
Buckley believes the team's run may help soccer in the U.S.
"I hate to use the term 'pink hats,'" said Buckley. "That resonates in other sports. These people who were attracted to the World Cup this year because it was a fun thing to do, may stay with the sport in ways they wouldn't have stayed with it before."
