Japan eliminated as Colombia finishes perfect Group Stage

Colombia continue to reinforce the public's perception as one of the main title contenders in this year's World Cup after registering their third consecutive win after defeating Japan 4-1 in the final Group B round match. 

Having already secured their ticket to the next round, Jose Pekerman's team needed only a draw to secure a first place birth . Meanwhile, Japan were in need of a series of results to hope to advance to the next round, as a win would not be enough to decide their own destiny. 

After a rather dull opening minutes in which neither team looked to cause any real danger, Colombia responded with a quick counter-attack that ended with Hertha BSC striker  Adrian Ramos was fouled inside the penalty box. Taking aim, Juan Cuadrado calmly dispatched the penalty for  the lead in the 17th minute.
