"Maybe it's that T.J. Oshie effect," - Chris Gasper

The World Cup has peaked the United Sates' interest in soccer.

The question is, can the MLS find a way to capitalize on World Cup fever in the U.S.?

Dalen Cuff and Chris Gasper joined Arbella Early Edition to discuss the topic.

"Maybe it's that T.J. Oshie effect," said Gasper. " Who knew who he was when we were watching the Olympics? Suddenly you know who John Brooks is, you know who Graham Zusi is, maybe you didn't know who Clint Dempsey is, you know who he is now."

Cuff argued that interest leads to participation, which could contribute to a big future for the MLS.

"If our best athletes play soccer, we would be on par with the rest of the world" said Cuff. "If Allen Iverson was given a soccer ball when he was two instead of a basketball. Imagine."
