It’s been a busy day for everyone out there covering all things Patriots tight ends.

Rob Gronkowski will begin the preseason on the physically unable to perform list, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Gronkowski has undergone five surgeries since breaking his arm last season, the latest being a procedure performed on his back Tuesday by Dr. Robert Watkins.

The length of the rehab process will decide whether or not the 24-year-old tight end will begin the regular season on the PUP list. If he was placed on the PUP list to start the season, he would have to be sidelined for the first six games of the 2013 season.
