Buy, buy, buy!

What's that I was saying yesterday about how the Sox shouldn't be buyers at the deadline?

Well, what a difference a bloop ninth-inning single makes. Because after last night's dramatic Red Sox win . . . I'm on board!

Call off the fire sale, Larry. Put on your spending shoes, Ben. Spin Bogaerts for some bullpen depth. Swap Barnes for another outfielder (you never know who will be the next Dave Roberts). Package Lavarnway and Kalish for Brian Matusz!

Also, I'll shut up now. And all jokes aside, it was nice to see the Sox get back on track last night. Or at the very least, stop the bleeding. It was nice to see that there's one pitcher in that rotation who's ready and willing to put this team on his back. It was nice to see the crazy combo of Vincente Padilla (who I believe became the first pitcher in history to throw an eephus pitch, commit an error on a double-pickoff move, and hit a batter in the head in the same inning) and Alfredo Aceves (who I believe became the first pitcher in history to earn a save while wearing a uniform that's completely drenched in olive oil) combine to close the door in crunch time. While the big bats struggled, it was nice to see the back end of the line-up (SaltalamacchiaNavaAviles) team up for a game-winning rally.

It was just nice to see the Sox walk off happy.

It had been almost almost a week.

Now suddenly, after all our whining, they take the field tonight with a chance to win this series in Texas. And who should be on the mound, but their own Texas Tough Guy. Mr. Josh Beckett, with another opportunity to help the Sox build off some momentum and maybe make a little something of this season.

Will he? Well, it doesn't hurt to be optimistic. But just to be safe, Ben and Larry, maybe you should hold off a second on that spending spree.
