The conventional wisdom is that Jose Iglesias will be in Pawtucket, not Boston, on Opening Day -- Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman, basing his comments on conversations he's had with Red Sox officials, reiterated that just yesterday on 98.5 The Sports Hub's 'Gresh and Zo' show -- but Larry Lucchino isn't so sure.
The Red Sox' president and CEO isn't saying Iglesias will stick with the Red Sox, mind you. Still, he's not ruling it out, either.
More importantly, though, Lucchino clearly regards the 22-year-old Cuban defector as Boston's shortstop of the future.

"I think there's a remote chance Iglesias will become the Red Sox' starting shortstop. Remote chance," Lucchino said Tuesday on WEEI Radio.
Regardless of where he starts the year, Lucchino thinks there'll be plenty of Iglesias in the Sox' future.
"I like him a lot," said Lucchino, later adding: "It's fun to watch him play. It's fun to see the growth and development, both physically and developmentally. And it'll be fun to watch him for the next couple of years . . .
"Iglesias certainly has a rich future. When that's going to start, I can't be sure. But there's no reason to rush him."
