Although he picked up the loss, Erik Bedard had a solid outing for the Sox, only allowing one earned run. Ellsbury's home run put him in some good company, but wasn't enough to get the Sox another win.

Jed Lowrie started a fourth-inning triple play, the first by the Red Sox since 1994, but a sloppy eight inning in the field, not entirely Lowrie's fault, overshadows it unfortunately
